Frequently asked questions

Reiki is a Japanese Energy Healing technique that uses gentle touch or hovering just above on certain areas of the body to focus the energy which is transferred through the hands to promote stress relief, relaxation and allows the body to get into a state of natural healing. It is intelligent universal energy that goes to exactly where it needs to go for your highest good. It works on the body, and it reaches the rest of your life too. Intention is set every session for it to go where it is needed, for the best possible outcomes and positive energy.

The main goal is comfort and relaxation for you while I perform the energy exchange. However, if you feel you have things to say or express, you are absolutely allowed to do that. No two sessions are the same!

You lay fully clothed, on your back, on a massage bed that's set up for comfort with a knee rest support and optional blanket on top for extra comfort. I also offer a sleep mask if you are like me and need to take away all outside distractions. I play soft healing music, and light a candle, maybe put an incense on. I then use a pendulum to see how your energy centres are doing (Chakras). I place my hands on different areas of your body. We always discuss what you are comfortable with first. You may hear some sounds, like my fingers rubbing together, or the feathers from my smudging wand.

Throughout the session, you may experience various sensations, such as warmth, tingling, body twitches or a deep sense of peace and tranquility. Some people fall asleep, some people cry, some people cough (particularly when I am over the throat chakra), but all of these sensations are as natural as the energy flows throughout your body. You are absolutely so safe and protected with me during the whole process.

Some people see colours or visions/images during their session and sometimes so do I! Everyone's experience is different in this respect and I also never know what I will see, hear or feel. It's very fascinating and, as I said, safe.

This is completely normal and can take a couple of sessions to fully relax into it, and some people struggle every time. It doesn't mean you're doing anything wrong, just some days our minds are more busy than others. I usually encourage you to visualise or feel into a place you'd imagine to be your safe, relaxing place and keep coming back to that if your mind wanders, or focus on a feeling, the music or the breath. I also encourage you not to overthink the session, or worry about how it should feel if it doesn't. If you don't feel anything or see anything, that's okay too. The Reiki energy is still going exactly where it needs to go in that moment.

Directly after the session you are never rushed. You may feel light and a bit out of sorts as you come to. Like you've had a nap and then have to come back to reality. Some people feel cold directly after the session, so I recommend wrapping up warm and having a grounding cup of tea. Or even better, getting out in nature to ground yourself is always good too. Some people feel an emotional fatigue in the hours after Reiki too. This is normal, so be gentle with yourself and drink plenty of water.

I am here for you. Anytime. If you have any questions or concerns after the session, or in the coming days and weeks after, feel free to message me. If big feelings and emotions are coming up, or trauma is surfacing, do reach out. You are not alone in your healing.

Not sure which session is right?

Reiki + Chat is the most booked starting point, but if you'd rather talk first, a phone session is a gentle way in. I can also build a longer sanctuary session around what you need.
